19 weeks

He weighs 16 pounds 10 oz at 4 month check up.  He's in the 75-80th percentile and he's been there all along.  He's 26.5 inches long.

He's starting to get some fuzzy, new hair on his head after losing ALL of his newborn hair.

He has the sniffles.  The doctor says it's a light cold.

He definitely has eczema and not ringworm.

He needs more tummy time so he'll roll over.  I've just been picking him up every time he cries and holding him all the time which might be a reason why he isn't doing much physical stuff.  I'm not sorry about it, though!

He likes to suck his bottom lip in.

Old Navy and Target socks don't fit him like they did his sister.  ALL socks we try fall off.

He screams when happy and sad.

He lost his amber teething bracelet for awhile and we think maybe his temperament worsened.

This is us either at family breakfast or family dinner--probably the former.

He always sleeps best when Mommy holds him.

He puts up surprisingly well with his big sister's antics.  He actually loves what she does to him most of the time.

Some more tummy time--naked so he can air out his little bottom and stop any rash before it starts.

They're gonna be great friends one day.

He's so chunky! I love all his chunkiness!

Meeting his new little friend.  He dwarfs her like he dwarfs all new babies.

I think he has his Daddy's lips.  Mine aren't that full.  Neither are Bunny's.

18 Weeks

He is very musical and just loves when I play the guitar and sing for him.  He squeals and giggles and smiles!

He scoots around a little on his back.  He doesn't do it to get anywhere, it just happens as he wiggles.

He very purposefully reaches for things that are within his grasp.

He can hold himself up while sitting for a second or two before falling over.  He doesn't seem to have any concept of balance yet.

He grunts when he goes to nurse or when he is intent on chewing something.

When he's awake and nursing and not ravenous or angry, he sucks, then pulls away and talks to me or just checks to see that I'm looking at him.  It's cute except for the fact that sometimes he pulls away quickly while still latched on.

He is very sensitive to sound--especially when sleeping.  We have to have white noise going during his naps if we want him to stay asleep while we run business as usual.

Rolling over wasn't really a priority for him towards the beginning of the week but towards the end, he was really truing to do it.  He hasn't rolled over on the floor and he hasn't tried on the bed since he did it a bit ago.

He went in the church nursery for the first time on 11/3 and to daycare  for the first time on 11/5.  Cried both times.  He misses his Mommy.

Seems to need 12-15 ounces of breast milk while I'm gone in the  mornings.  This is much more than the 2-4 oz that his sister drank while I was gone.  We're still not sure of the exact amount of oz he'll need, though.  This is a rough, early estimate.

He likes to chew on burp cloths and sleeves in addition to his teethers.

He regularly grabs any hair (or anything, really) that's within his reach.

This week was my first week back at work.

He sleeps better in the crib so as of Monday night, that's where he sleeps during the night now.

We try to practice "inversion" with him daily--but it ends up being a couple of times a week.  The chiropractor has had us do it for both kids until something like 18 months as it improves the health of their spine.

He met a new little friend--only a couple days old--and completely dwarfed him.  He'll catch up, though!

He's so BIG!!!

He's a happy little guy!!!

...most of the time. :-)

17 weeks old

His gums bled onto the sheet when he was napping.  He must have nicked them with his fingernails.  It gave me quite a scare, though.

He seems to be reacting a bit better to the car than he used to--still cries, but it isn't always and it isn't as prolonged as it used to be.

He's a social nurser. He pauses from niursing to look up at me and smile, giggle, or blow raspberries.

Giggly at night sometimes instead of screaming.  That's a welcome change, but it's not always.

We started giving him Zantac only in the evenings.  I don't think I notice a difference.

He's started spitting a lot when he's happy in addition to his raspberries.

He went down a level in the pack-n-play but he's still gonna stay in our room for awhile because he's a belly sleeper and he hasn't quite mastered the art of rolling over.

I think he got bigger.  He seems to be a giant baby  to me. I love it!

He scoots around on his back--I'm pretty sure it's not intentional.

He pushes up to a standing position when we hold him by the arms or torso.

We tried no Zantac at night for a couple of nights and he was congested and didn't sleep well so we went back to using it at night.

He's still much calmer in the car and actually sleeps in it--which I prefer he didn't do because then he's wide awake and ready to play when we get home and I'm ready to either make lunch, unpack the car, or sleep myself. :-)

Here are some comparison shots of he and his sister at the same age.

 A sweet little cough.

It got cold suddenly so we fished out one of Bunny's old hats.  It will work for a little while but I'm gonna need to make him a larger one sooner rather than later.

He spent a couple of hours with Grandpa and did really well.  I thought he had issues being away from me after he was with his Aunties, but maybe that was just a bad night.
It was hard to know if he was hot or cold while at Roxbury.  I bundled him up a lot because it got cold there, but sometimes I think I bundled him too much.

 Three generations of men.

Eating breakfast with his big sister (and me) made both of them super happy!
Sometimes, he'll just chill in Bunny's room while I run around the house doing chores.  He stays happier when in there with her than laying on the floor or in the swing by himself.  He is so, very social!!!

It's not good for babies to face outward in baby carriers but he was struggling with the forward face on a walk we took because of some congestion so I faced him outward just the once.  He seemed to like it, but I could tell it was putting strain on his little body so it won't happen often, if ever again.

We try to do inversion with him every day as the chiropracter suggested.  We did this with Bunny too.  She didn't have reflux, but Dr. J. says it helps reflux as well as keeping the baby's spine aligned.

While at Roxbury, I needed an hour to myself to get diapers washed and have some Bible time so Daddy wore Baby Bear in the Boba Air while he played frisbee golf, and he fell asleep most of the time and made Daddy very, very hot!
